Our
home sits high in the hills above St. Céré surrounded
by a tranquil green landscape and on the edge of the small and friendly
village of Lacam D'Ourcet. Guests can relax and enjoy their holiday
in a peaceful location disturbed only occasionally by the sound of
the bells on the cows as they go for milking, or the church bells (don't
worry they only chime 3 times a day!). Yet we are ideally located to
explore the many lovely towns and villages - take a look at our Explore
the Area section.
Each direction to the house takes you along a scenic route with wonderful
panoramic views. As you climb up from the valley to our home you are
greeted with delightful views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
Our
three guest bedrooms have been decorated and furnished to reflect
the house and its location. Each bedroom has been completely
refurbished and has a brand new ensuite bathroom with shower. All
rooms have central heating for any chilly nights early or late
season and we have a roaring log fire in the lounge when needed.
Many
of our guests have told us how well they have slept so don't
forget to bring an alarm clock! We are very happy to provide
an early morning tea or coffee for early risers.

We
serve breakfast and evening dinner in our separate dining room or
on the patio in summer. Guests dine together to swap stories of epic
walks or hidden villages discovered that day.
Breakfast
Our
room price includes breakfast of coffee or tea (herbal teas available)
or chocolate, fruit juice and a selection of croissants & pain
au chocolat, fresh bread, rolls, cereal, local jam and honey, fresh
fruit salad or fresh fruit and yoghurts.
Evening
Dinner
Dinner
is prepared from fresh, seasonal and locally produced ingredients
including our own vegetables and reflects a combination of local
dishes and international flavours - two sample menus are shown below.
A carafe of wine or a choice of soft drinks is included. The chef
(ie Alex) usually has one evening a week off, normally Thursday,
but this is flexible.
Delicious
vegetarian meals are a speciality and are available by prior
request

Extract
from the Guardian Newspaper Travel Website reporting on our vegetarian
menu option
Alex's vegetarian cooking is inventive and delicious – we had poached
pear, toasted walnut and blue cheese salad, lentil patties with a hot
tomato and yoghurt and cucumber dipping sauce, followed by a lemon tart
to rival any you'll find in a patisserie. Louise Tickle - Guardian.Co.uk

"Fleuri" is
a lovely light double room looking out across the fields and hills
to the front of the house. The floral headboard was rescued from
an old French style bed that we inherited with the house.
" Primevere",
decorated in pastel shades to reflect the wild flowers that are
so abundant here, is another double bedroom.
"Le
Pigeonnier" named after the
high tower that is a local architectural feature of many houses.
On the top floor and offering views across the countryside, this
bedroom has either a large double or twin beds.

In
2008 we were featured in a new book all about running Bed & Breakfasts
in France. This excellent book by Jo Taylor is the "bible" for
anyone aspiring to lead a different life in this wonderful country.
Lots of information and tips as well as the pitfalls! You can get
a copy at most good bookshops or simply order online at Amazon.
